MT RUSHMORE BIRDS and PAWS PET BAKERY and GIFTS are located in the same Pet store in downtown Rapid City, South Dakota, at 607 St. Joseph Street (across from the Alex Johnson Hotel). The owners, Patrick and Barbara Paur are Certified Avian Specialists by the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council; and together have more than 45 years of professional experience working with parrots and dogs. They own and operate South Dakotas Premier Breeding and Educational Aviary on their ranch north of the city.
Whether youre an experienced bird enthusiast or considering your first pet, were here for you before and after your purchase. As reputable breeders, we take the time to see that the parrot is compatible with you and your familys lifestyle; and that you become well versed in the needs of your pet. We encourage and promote the highest standards in the daily care of your pets. References are gladly provided.
Pride is taken in the many hours spent in the important process of hand feeding and socializing the baby parrots until theyre placed in your care; and we follow-up with continuing education and helpful tips as needed.
Our showroom at 607 St. Joseph Street features a large sidewalk display area with Macaws and African Grey parrots on their play stations throughout the day. We offer a very wide selection of toys, cages, healthy bird food and accessories including play stands, swings, trees and educational materials.
Most of our clients take advantage of our professional grooming including wings, beaks and nails; and parrot boarding is also available at Mt Rushmore Birds. DNA testing is also available.
We invite you to stop in at the store and meet Misty, our Umbrella Cockatoo. Shes truly an amazing parrot and is always eager to play ball or just hang out and talk. Misty is certified as a Pet Therapy Bird.
PAWS PET BAKERY and GIFTS is a unique pet store and boutique featuring home-made dog and cat treats baked fresh daily in the store. The store features a wide range of general pet supplies and gifts for dogs, cats and their people.
PET PHOTOGRAPHY - Located on the mezzanine floor is PET ANTICS PHOTOGRAPHY with Jackie Lake. Jackie is widely known for her professional skills in photographing you and your pet. During Christmas and Easter we feature several days of picture taking of your pets with Santa or the Easter Bunny and Lambs.
